Traditional Shotokan Karate maximizes the effectiveness of the body. This offers immediate advantage for self-defense and is used in everyday life. Proper training in Shotokan Karate sharpens both mental and physical aspects of our bodies. It improves our ability to focus and helps us control and leverage our potential.

Shotokan Karate History
The father of Shotokan Karate, Master Gichen Funakoshi combined the elements of his training in the Okinawan styles of Shuri-te and Naha-te, both of which have origins in Shorin-Ryu and Chinese Shaolin Kung Fu into his own style of karate.

Master Funakoshi's pen name was 'Shoto' so Shotokan literally means Shoto's club
